Q: What are the benefits of underfloor heating compared to conventional systems?

A: Underfloor heating offers greater comfort with an even all over warmth, there are no cold spots or draughty floors. There are no hot surfaces to burn yourself on, making it an ideal heating system especially for schools and old folks homes.

Q: Is underfloor heating expensive to run?

A: No, underfloor heating has lower running costs (typically 15-20% less) as the heat is where you need it (below your feet) and runs at a lower temperature. As the floor temperature is only a few degrees above the air temperature the heat doesn't rise.

Q: Are there any other benefits?

A: Yes, underfloor heating is more hygenic due to lack of convection. There are no currents of warm air to stir up dust particles and the floor temperature is too high for dust mites to live aiding people with breathing ailments.

Q: Will the heat damage my floor coverings?

A: The low surface temperatures associated with underfloor heating mean that the floor coverings will never reach a temperature that will cause damage.

Q: Can underfloor heating be installed into an existing building?

A: Yes, but as the heating has to be installed under the floor some disruption will have to be taken into account.
